Essential oils are certainly having their day at the moment, and for good reason. Essential oils help to revitalise your sense of smell, the most sensitive of our 5 senses. Smells have such powerful connections to memories. An example of this is using your chosen oil while studying, and then during the exam, is thought to promote memory recall. At Happy Healthy Women we only recommend Perfect Potion essential oils, skin care products and bath time products.

Quality is super important

There are a variety of varying quality essential oil products available, which makes it important to read labels when purchasing. Some examples of a lower quality oil:

If the label does not say 100% essential oils you are not dealing with essential oil, you are dealing with a synthetic, man made fragrance. Fragrances are potentially toxic. ^1. A ‘study, by the University of Melbourne, found that one in three Australians report adverse health effects from fragranced products, including breathing problems, migraine headaches, skin irritation and asthma attacks.’
If the oils are not 100% certified organic. Organic essential oils are important to us at Happy Healthy Women as this helps to ensure that the plants that the oils are derived from have been cultivated without the use of fertilisers or synthetic pesticides. Ingredients Explained

Ricinus communis (castor oil): (certified organic) Castor Oil is used in cosmetics as an emollient and for its water-barrier properties.
Cera alba (beeswax): (certified organic) Beeswax is used as a base for ointments and balms, and offers hardness to lip products. It is protective to the skin. This ingredient is not suitable for vegans.
Zinc oxide: CI 77947 Zinc Oxide is a naturally occurring non-nano mineral / white pigment which acts as an inorganic UV protector. When added to the various cosmetic products like creams, lotions, and colour cosmetics it gives a very bright white colour. It can also be used to treat minor skin irritations like small cuts, burns and nappy rash and may display antibacterial properties .
Calendula officinalis (calendula): infused in helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil (certified organic). Calendula has soothing, anti-inflammatory and skin reparative properties. Especially beneficial for baby and sensitive skin products. Perfect Potion’s calendula infused oil is Certified Organic.
Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) (certified organic) Extracted from an African tree. It is ideal for use on dry or fragile skins and is suitable for those with skin sensitivities such as dermatitis or psoriasis. It has anti-inflammatory properties and leaves the skin supple, soft and protected from dryness.
Tocopherol: Tocopherol is vitamin E and is a strong antioxidant. Vitamin E works to soften skin and reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. ,
Limonene: Occurs naturally in essential oils Limonene is a natural component of essential oils, particularly citrus.
Linalool: Is a natural component of essential oils such as Lavender.
Matricaria recutita (chamomile, German) oil: (certified organic) The scent of German chamomile is emotionally soothing.
Anthemis nobilis (chamomile, Roman) oil: (certified organic) The scent of Roman chamomile is harmonising, serene and peaceful. It promotes inner peace.
Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil: (certified organic) The fresh floral scent of lavender is harmonising and calming. It promotes compassion and healing.
Citrus reticulata (mandarin): oil (certified organic) The sweet, citrus scent of mandarin is cheerful, gentle, and refreshing.

Directions

Smooth on to baby’s skin as required. Also suitable for use by anyone with sensitive skin. Use with other products in the Beautiful Baby range.
