Essential oils are certainly having their day at the moment, and for good reason. Essential oils help to revitalise your sense of smell, the most sensitive of our 5 senses. Smells have such powerful connections to memories. An example of this is using your chosen oil while studying, and then during the exam, may help promote memory recall. At Happy Healthy Women we only recommend Perfect Potion essential oils.

Quality is super important

There are a large number of essential oils available on the market, the quality of which can vary greatly. This makes it important to read labels when purchasing. Some examples of a lower quality oil:

If the label does not say 100% essential oils you are not dealing with essential oil, you are dealing with a synthetic, man made fragrance. Fragrances are potentially toxic. ^1. A ‘study, by the University of Melbourne, found that one in three Australians report adverse health effects from fragranced products, including breathing problems, migraine headaches, skin irritation and asthma attacks.’
If the oils are not 100% certified organic. Organic essential oils are important to us at Happy Healthy Women as this helps to ensure that the plants that the oils are derived from have been cultivated without the use of fertilisers or synthetic pesticides. Ingredients Explained

aqua (water): Purified water is an essential component for healthy looking skin and hair, as it cleans and moisturises. It is also necessary to dissolve water-soluble ingredients in a product and therefore forms the base of most of Perfect Potion’s products.
disodium cocoyl glutamate: derived from coconut oil Disodium cocoyl glutamate is a mildly foaming, sulfate free co-surfactant.
glycerin: vegetable derived from Palm oil Glycerin soothes and moisturises the skin. It is a humectant (holds onto moisture) and is readily absorbed into the skin.
sorbitol: derived from tapioca starch. Sorbitol is an effective humectant for use in products to be left on the skin, such as moisturisers, as well as rinse off products to prevent drying.
cocoglucoside: derived from coconut oil, palm kernel oil, or corn glucose. Cocoglucoside is a gentle, sulfate free surfactant that produces a mild foam whilst cleansing the skin and hair. Please note this ingredient may be derived from palm oil.
sodium alginate: Sodium Alginate is a natural thickening and gelling agent derived from seaweed.
citric acid: Citric acid naturally occurs in the human body and also in plants, especially citrus fruits. It helps regulate pH levels and helps preserve products.
limonene: Limonene is a natural component of essential oils, particularly citrus.
sodium benzoate In the food and cosmetics industries sodium benzoate is used as a preservative, effectively killing most yeasts, bacteria and fungi.
potassium sorbate: Potassium sorbate is used widely in the food and cosmetics industries as a preservative.
linalool: Linalool is a natural component of essential oils such as Lavender.
boswellia carterii (frankincense) oil: (Certified organic) Frankincense essential oil is spiritually uplifting and used in meditation it enhances spiritual wisdom and inspiration.
Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil: (Certified organic) The fresh floral scent of lavender is harmonising and calming. It promotes compassion and healing.
anthemis nobilis (chamomile, Roman) oil: (Certified organic) The scent of Roman chamomile is harmonising, serene and peaceful. It promotes inner peace.
citrus sinensis (orange, sweet) oil: (certified organic) The fresh, citrus scent of sweet orange conveys a sense of warmth and joy. It nourishes the soul with feelings of joy. May be used for the relief of stress, nervous tension, mild anxiety and insomnia and to treat dull and oily skin complexions.

Directions

1. Squirt a couple of teaspoons under running water as you fill the bath.

2. Gently lather over your little one’s skin or squirt a small amount onto a damp face cloth to clean their skin.
